At the Paarl Business Lab last week we had another fascinating conversation about entrepreneurship, and some valuable advice for business owners.

Founder of Paarl furniture company, Incanda Furniture, Gerhard van Deventer, joined us and gave us some insight into his journey of creating this company from selling his first couch out of a double garage.

Gerhard has been an entrepreneur for most of his life. From selling popcorn, to being the resident barber at his school. Starting businesses has been his idea of filling a gap, whenever he saw an opportunity.

Incanda Furniture, has been part of Gerhard’s life for more than 20 years, and of course, during this period, he experienced many setbacks, and various successes.

He employs more than 200 people, and has 6 outlets nationally. His love for the people he employs is a common theme throughout the interview, as he often acknowledges their contribution to the growth of the company.

So many lessons in this conversation, so much good advice, and one of his biggest drivers for his success is to remain humble!

Enjoy the interview!
