Drakenstein Edu CC were crowned title champs over the weekend after a hard fought victory over Mbekweni Cricket Club!
Vice captain Bosten Rowan Robertson secured his maiden century 119* for the club in a brilliant knock who helped the team rack up 230 runs in 50.
Mbekweni’s bowling attack restricted the hosts to 125 for 2 in 35 overs, but this was short lived as Skipper Kurtley Petersen added a impressive 35 in record time!
Drakenstein Edu’s bowlers came out firing with Rowan Fortuin and Reagan Carolissen securing 4 and 3 wickets respectively.
A massive team performance and contributions by Elroy Alexander, Garen Petersen, Kurtley Petersen and Leighton Abrahams secured points for the title.
It was a day filled with old Drakies, founding members Mr William Philander and Gershon Witbooi, ex chairman’s Darryl Bruiners, and committed fans, who supported us through the season.
The Second team is currently on top and await final confirmation from Boland.
