PETCO, the South African PET Plastic Recycling Company, a national recycling company recently held its Regional Recycling Awards. One of the awards is given to a local authority that has recycling as a major objective of their town/city management. Drakenstein Municipality won the 2019 Western Cape Local Authority Award for Innovation. This award is for the transformation of the Wellington landfill site from a crime hotspot into a safe, thriving recycling concern, providing a source of income for 30 entrepreneurs.
